Deb Pyke {owner}, has been successfully running Fantasyland since 1978. She also has an International Mail Order Business ~ "Fantasia Fashions". When asked how she ever ended up in Owen Sound, she will truthfully tell you she came up for the "Long Weekend" in 1974. At that time she took over "The Book Barn" [used book store] and in four years it became: a "head shoppe"; boutique clothing; pinball arcade; waterbed store; and finally "clicked" as a sex shoppe. It was nicknamed "Downtown Owen Sound's #1 Tourist Attraction" by one of the former mayors and Deb made up "I survived Four Rooms of X-Rated Pleasures" souvenier buttons. Deb has always had a fun outlook and her customers express how comfortable/friendly it is to shoppe there. Even the mail order customers remark on the personable service they receive! Deb says "I like people! That's what's so great about treating your business like your "Living Room". Your customers are "special guests"!
Nowadays, Deb has clientele all over the world. She ships to England, Australia, most of the States and even to the "far north". Deb collects POSTCARDS and STAMPS from all over the world. In fact, she would love it if you would drop her a note on a "pretty postal card" and stick a "colorful beautiful stamp" upon it. Her biggest surprise was receiving a postal card/stamp from
Russia and Botswana!
When not in the store ~ Deb is happy gardening on her 10 acre property she shares with her Lifepartner, C.C. and her loveable black poodle, Phoeline. Travel,
Theatre, Family & friends ~ are also tops on her list.
